Why
play club volleyball? There are 3 reasons athletes give for playing club volleyball: Enjoyment of the
game, improve ability for high school/middle school, and improve chances of playing in college.
If I play club can I play other sports? Lightning
Volleyball's philosophy is the more sports/activities a child participates in the better overall athlete they will become.
Lightning Volleyball will not discourage athletes to play multiple sports. We schedule our practices after most school
activities are over to allow kids to play multiple sports.
What
is the time commitment? All Lightning Volleyball teams practice two to three times a week for 2 hours.
Practices are held in the evenings and some teams may practice on Saturday. Tournaments are mostly on Sundays in the
Denver metro area, with invitaionals and national qualifiers taking place over three days. Most of the tournaments are
in the Front Range area of Colorado and require going down on Saturday and staying at a hotel near the tournament site.
How long is the season?
The teams start practice in November and continue into April.
Where
do the teams practice? We use high school and middle school gyms in the Vail Valley.
Is sponsorship available? There are scholarships/hardship
funds available through the Vail Valley Youth Foundation and RMR Volleyball Association. We are a non-profit organization
so any corporate or business that sponsors you will receive a tax credit. Anyone needing assistance should contact the
director Mike Garvey.
